Abstract

Source parameters of 204 local earthquakes in Aswan region with local magnitude between  recorded by Aswan broadband seismic network from 2010 to 2014 are estimated. We applied a spectral inversion method to separate the source, site and path effects from the observed displacement P-and S-wave spectra by means of linear least square analysis assuming a reference site with no amplification effects. Based on the Brune’s omega-squared source model we estimated source parameters (seismic moment, static stress drop and source radius) using the estimated source spectra for P-and S-waves. Our estimated site effect indicate that the site amplifications are not so significant in Aswan area. The attenuation effect, expressed by quality factor indicates frequency dependence with fitting relation   and   for P- and S- wave spectra, respectively. The estimated stress drops indicates that the reservoir induced earthquakes in Aswan region may have low stress drop comparing to earthquakes of tectonic origin.
