1) Reference

Midorikawa, S., 1989, Synthesis of Ground Acceleration of Large Earthquake Using Acceleration Envelope Waveform of Small Earthquake, Journal of Struct. Construct. Eng. (Transactions of AIJ), No. 398, 23-30 (in Japanese).

2) Formula

This paper proposed the method to synthesize the ground acceleration of large earthquake using acceleration envelope waveform of small earthquake. The envelope of acceleration wave form which is used as the element earthquake is modeled as follows;

The term of fi(t) is modeled following Kameda & Sugito (1978) as follows;

3) Used data

The empirical function of tp was derived from the aftershock (ML=5.0) of 1979 Imperial Valley Earthquake, 1983 Kanagawa – Yamanashi Border Earthquake (M=6.0) and 1986 Parm Springs Earthquake (ML=6.0).
