Software References


 

It is well known that moment release during earthquake rupture is heterogeneous (not uniform) both in time
and space. Its accurate estimate is necessary for modeling and/or simulation of ground motions. Also, it is
possible to deduce concise information such as centroid location and time from estimated rupture process.

Various techniques have been proposed and applied during the last two decades (see References)

Generally, it takes longer to obtain information in this grade than that in grade 1 and 2. Kuge (2003) proposed a
procedure to automatically determine moment release on an earthquake fault using strong motion records
from a local network.
