4. Title:  SEISMIC ACTIVITY IN THE GULF OF TADJOURA AND ITS ROLE IN TECTONIC EVALUATION

5. Abstract:
The Gulf of Tadjoura (Djibouti) and its western extension is one of the active regions, it is favored to observe divergence of plates and the birth of oceanic ridge.

Monitoring seismic activity through the observatory of Arta such as locating the epicenter and hypocenter, plays an essential role to know which part of the Gulf and Afar depression is more active. It is noted that the seismic recurrence takes place at the interval of twenty years. It is remarked that the magnitude does not exceed 6.0 within the Gulf while it does in emerged region in the west.

The principle of composite focal mechanism leads us to know more about the tectonic activity of the region, before the main shock occurs
