4. Title:  SEISMIC OBSERVATION IN INDONESIA

5. Abstract:
Regarding to the geological condition of Indonesia archipelago, it is obvious that the country is considered as one of the most seismic active countries in the world. The last ten-year observation has shown us that more than 700 significant earthquake with magnitude > 4 RS can be located annually.

Based on the historical seismic data, the Indonesian territory can be classified into 6 seismic zones with the following criteria; high active, active, folded and fracture, folded, infrequent small earthquake and stable areas.

In order to determine earthquake sources, Meteorological and Geophysical Agency of Indonesia (BMG) has already operated 28 non-telemetry stations and 27 telemetry sensors.  Besides, BMG has made cooperation with the government of Japan, France, and USA to operate some broadband seismographs included 6 auxiliary seismic stations of the IMS
