Abstract:
Madagascar
occurs in intraplate context, which is presumed to be stable. It is located more
than 2´000 km from the mid-ocean ridge and more than 1'000 km from the East
African rift. The Observatory of Antananarivo, under the chart I.G.O.A
(Institute and Geophysical Observatory of Antananarivo), especially the
Seismological Laboratory undertakes the seismic observation in Madagascar. At
the present time, 5 seismic stations combine to form the Malagasy Network.
Vertical component short periods are the instruments used, and ISIS (Integrated
Software In Seismology) is the analysis program. Madagascar has a relation with
the ISC (International
Seismological Centre) and one of the signers of the Comprehensive
Nuclear-Test-Ban. Installations of more efficient different instruments are the
project of the organization.
