- Measurement of dispersion curve (i.e., phase and group velocities as functions of period) for surface wave seismograms
- Crust and upper mantle structure estimated by dispersion curve
- Regional variation in surface wave propagation:
e.g., Low velocity zone, continent vs. ocean, Tectonically active vs. stable region, Plate cooling
