Japan-Peru Video Conference on Seismic Safety of Adobe Houses

We conducted a videoconference on technology for seismic safety of adobe houses between Japan and Peru at IISEE/BRI on February 24, 2006. BRI has provided training in seismology and earthquake engineering for developing countries and been in cooperative with researchers and engineers in Peru on technology for seismic safety for many years. The conference was held as a part of the project to develop skills for adobe houses seismic reinforcement in Peru. Local experts joined the session and exchanged opinions on cooperation for research with us. The videoconference with the installed facilities made real-time communication possible. We hope to utilize this videoconference system and push on technical cooperation projects for reduction of earthquake disaster in developing countries.
