1. IISEE 40-Years Anniversary Symposium

The IISEE conducts the �40-years Anniversary symposium� on November 28, 2003 in Tokyo. Please find a circular & program in the IISEE-net Webpage. In commemoration of the 40-years anniversary, a special issue of IISEE Bulletin will be published and distributed by March 2004.

2. The 2003-2004 Regular Course is Started

The opening ceremony of the 2003-2004 regular course was held on September 8, 2003. Twenty-one participants from sixteen countries join the eleven months course.

3. The 2003Global Seismological Observation Courseis Started

Eleven participants from ten countries attend the 2003 global seismological observation course from October 24 to December 18, 2003.

4. IISEE-NET Provides Information on EQ Disaster Prevention Technologies

For contributing worldwide earthquake disaster mitigation, the IISEE operates an internet website named �IISEE-NET� since June 2002. It is highly appreciated if you kindly announce the website to colleagues. Your frank opinion and any comments in terms of our website are welcome at anytime.

5. Related Events

�JSSI 10th Anniversary Symposium on Performance of Response Controlled Buildings� will be held on November 17-19, 2004 in Yokohama, Japan. This symposium is co-operated by JSSI: Japan society of Seismic Isolation, BRI, CIB: International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction. And in commemoration of the 10th anniversary, the JSSI has planned an international competition for ideas about future cities and buildings making full use of emerging technologies such as seismic isolation and response control.
