On October 14th evening, the IISEE Alumni Meeting was held during the 14th
World Conference on Earthquake Engineering (14WCEE) at the Yanfu restaurant
in Beijing. 18 ex-participants, 7 their partners and 20 relating Japanese

The 49th Annual Training on Seismology, Earthquake Engineering and Tsunami
Disaster Mitigation courses started on October 2nd 2008. In this year, we
invite 22 participants from 11 countries including 7 participants from
China, whom we receive as part of Japanese assistance for reconstruction
after the Sichuan Earthquake occurred on May 12, 2008.
These training courses will be carried out until September next year in
cooperation with GRIPS and JICA. After getting through the courses with
credits required, the master's degree will be awarded to the participants.
So, we hope all 2008-09 participants will take the master's degree one year
later.
