Bunichiro SHIBAZAKI
Chief Research Seismologist
===Dr. Shibazaki===
I am a Chief Research Seismologist and am currently the course leader of a training program on tsunami disaster mitigation. Until now, 29 participants from six countries completed this program. This program includes lectures, practical studies, and field trips on basic and advanced earthquake and tsunami technology and new tsunami countermeasures based on the lessons from the 2011 great Tohoku-oki earthquake. We welcome participants from countries that have faced disaster from tsunamis. I also hope that all the ex-participants play an active part in earthquake and tsunami disaster mitigation.
I am also in charge of the IISEE-UNESCO Lecture Notes project for training. Currently, 60 lecture notes are available on our website. Some of the lecture notes have been made by new lecturers, for example, the lecture notes for a lecture titled “Numerical Simulation of Tsunami Inundation and its Application.” Please refer to our lecture notes through our website. If you have comments or questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me.
Bunichiro SHIBAZAKI
Chief Research Seismologist
===Mr. Inukai===
For 1 year, since Apr. 2000 to March 2001, I belonged to IISEE and now, since Apr. 2012, I’m working at IISEE. The recent annual training courses are revised, compared with the ones in 2000, and have been certified as Master’s degree courses. But in the latter half of the training courses, the individual studies are still almost same. Last year, one participant chose the seismic engineering of a bridge whose advisor was me, and we asked his supervisor to the researcher in Public Works Institute, Japan. At the Annual Training Course in Earthquake Engineering, almost participants choose the individual studies for building structures and it is possible to choose the civil engineering like the above example.
In IISEE, we hope many of the participants or the ex-participants to have their interests on the disaster mitigation, including seismology, and we can help or support them.

IISEE published the YEAR BOOK including all ex-participants' name list for these 50 years. Distinguished guests and four ex-participants contributed to this memorial special number. IISEE started to send the publication to every ex-participant by ship if
we have the address. Please let inform to below if you'll not receive;
