(1)Mr. Chiko Bhakti Mulia Wiradikarta (Seismology Course)
The study trip to Kansai Area (Kobe, Osaka and Awaji island) from 8 to
12 April 2012 was an unforgettable moment during my study in IISEE.
I had great experiences of learning and observing Kobe area that was hit
by devastating earthquake in 1995 (M7.2).

(2) Ms. Petronila Guadalupe Flores Ayerdis (Seismology Course)
From April 8th to 12th of 2013, participants of Seismology course and
Earthquake Engineering course visited Kobe and Osaka City and Awaji
Island on Hyogo Prefecture, Kansai District. The study trip involves
visits to the Disaster Reduction and Human Renovation Institution,
Port of Kobe Earthquake Memorial Park, Kobe National Government Building
for Disaster Office and Asian Disaster Reduction Center.

(3)Mr. Way Phyo Linn (Earthquake and Engineering Course)
It was really an exciting trip in my life. In this study trip, we visited
many interesting places like the World Cultural Heritage Himeji Castle
which was constructed in the early 17th century, the world largest
suspension bridge “Akashi Kaikyo”, Kobe E-defense laboratory which
owns the world largest shaking table, the famous Nojima fault and
its preservation museum.

(4)Ms. Pinar Kocak (Earthquake and Engineering Course)
Our visit to Kansai Region is one of the most fascinating and rewarding trips
during my stay in Japan. I am sure not only for me, but also for all of
us, Kansai study trip was a perfect way to understand how an earthquake
can be distractive as well as it has a large-scale damage such as collapse
of transportation and fire.

(5)Mr. Warek Martin Kele-eh (Tsunami Course)
It was exactly two years and a month after the Great East Japan
Earthquake and Tsunami when the IISEE tsunami course participants of
2012-2013 instead of heading to visit the rejuvenating Eastern Pacific
Coast of Japan headed south to Kansai Region. A month ago in a
seismological tunnel of Matsushiro they joined the nation to pay their
respect to the victim of Tsunami by a minute silence when local time
strikes at 14:46pm on March 11.
