Numerical Simulation of Seismic Wave Propagation
Course Description
1. Basic theory of seismic wave propagation is given. A semi-analytic method (Propagator matrix method) is explained to calculate a seismic response of a flat layered structure. You will also learn a purely numerical method, (the finite-difference method) for arbitrary heterogeneous structures.
2. Practice of the wave propagation simulation is given using personal computers. You will simulate wave propagation by yourselves using PC to see amplification due to the basin.
