(1) Dispersive character of surface waves: phase and group velocities
(2) Measurement of dispersion curve (i.e., phase and group velocities as functions of period) for surface wave seismograms
(3) Crust and upper mantle structure estimated by dispersion curve
(4) Regional variation in surface wave propagation:
e.g., Low velocity zone, continent vs. ocean, Tectonically active vs. stable region, Plate cooling
